Lake Erie Electric, Inc. was awarded a contract for the electrical work for the Northeast Ohio Medical University’s (NEOMED) new Research & Graduate Education Building & Comparative Medical Unit addition and renovations.
The new Research & Graduate Education Building is an 83,000 SF four-story State-of-the-art biomedical research facility. The facility has three floors of open biomedical laboratories, write-up areas, faculty offices, and a seminar and small group conference room to support collaborative research. The facility provides space for more than 30 scientists and 156 bench researchers to work. The building supports important research leading to better treatments for cardiovascular disease, arthritis, and osteoporosis, Alzheimer’s disease, autism, addictions and more. The building’s fourth floor is a shelled space that will allow for future expansion as the research program expands allowing space for an additional 56 researchers.
The Comparative Medical Unit, known as the CMU, is a 20,400 SF addition to the already existing CMU which also included 8,000 SF of renovation. The new addition includes a vivarium, research areas, and support facilities.
