Lake Erie Electric acquires Hopp Electric located in Chelsea, Michigan!

November 1, 2018 – Lake Erie Electric (“LEE” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce that it has acquired of the assets of Michigan-based electrical contractor, Hopp Electric, Inc. (“Hopp Electric” or “Hopp”).  The transaction closed on October 31, 2018.

Hopp Electric was founded by Ron & Yvonne Hopp in 2004.  Located in Chelsea, Michigan, 12 miles west of Ann Arbor, Hopp provides electrical construction and maintenance services to industrial, commercial, and residential customers throughout Southeast Michigan.  The company has earned a solid reputation as the preferred, “go-to” electrical contractor in the Ann Arbor region by delivering consistent, high-quality services to its customers.  Accordingly, the newly-acquired business will continue to operate using the “Hopp Electric, Inc.” name.  Ron Hopp will remain in his leadership role and assume the title of Vice President, effective immediately.

Expanding into the Ann Arbor region is a logical step for Lake Erie Electric for several reasons.  The Company presently serves the Michigan market via its Farmington, MI and Toledo, OH offices, but does not have a physical presence in the City of Ann Arbor or its suburbs.  This acquisition expands Lake Erie Electric’s geographic footprint in a manner that allows us to better-serve existing (and new) customers that have operations situated throughout Southeast Michigan.  Additionally, Hopp Electric’s book of business, which consists primarily of commercial and light-industrial electrical work, is a valuable complement to Lake Erie Electric’s existing, automotive-focused business in Michigan.
