Miami University’s leading edge Health Sciences and Wellness facility is the first of its kind in Southern Ohio. Situated on the Oxford campus, the new 169,000 square foot building is a clinical mecca for nursing students, physician associates and the community. Offering three separate yet complimentary wings connected by a “wellness corridor,” where three academic programs and three clinics conjoin. The three wings are designated to clinics, academia, and speech/audiology pathology (research). This newly innovative design aids in student and physician associate interaction in addition to offering the entire pre-clinical academic experience under one roof. 16,000 square feet of the academic wing are dedicated to hands-on learning where students can access: an 8-bed anatomy lab, an 18 bed physical examination lab, a cutting edge simulator center (including doctor’s office and operating room), an enhanced innovation lab with cadavers, a patient training examination center, an orthopedic surgery lab with external monitors, seven classrooms, and any of the 125 computers installed in the building.

Lake Erie Electric served as the primary electrical contractor for this project. Our scope included the primary electrical distribution, branch power and lighting systems, as well as raceway and wiring for the audio/video, fire alarm, and access control systems. More than 1,300,000 linear feet of raceway and wire and 4,500 fixtures were installed. The LEE Dayton Division’s ability to deliver this project on-budget and on-schedule is a result of their teamwork mentality and productive work force.
